Turn Mismatched Socks into Hair Scrunchies

Mismatched socks. Everybody has 'em. I know I do. So why throw them away when you can make great hair scrunchies??

I found this project the other day, but I do not remember where I got it from. Anyway, I think it's a great upcycling project. It's fun and super easy, and the best part is, you can make it with materials you already have at home!

Materials:
- an old (CLEAN) mismatched sock or two
- scissors
- two fingers
- and about 5 minutes of your precious time.

step 1: gather all you supplies. yup, that's all you'll need!
NOTE: striped socks work the best!
step 2: now cut along the stripes...
...OR if you don't have stripes, cut strips no larger than 1/2 an inch.

This is what it should look like, make sure to leave off the heel, toe and top of the sock
NOTE: save the stretchy top part of the sock!! IT WILL BE USED LATER!

step 3: take a strip and double it over

step 4:  slide it onto your finger, twist it only half way (so it looks like an 8)
and slide the other loop onto your other finger

step 5: now do the same with the next loop

step 6: lift the bottom loop over the top one and slide it completely
off the finger. then do the same for the other finger

it should now look like this...

continue this until it is 8 or 9 links long...

step 7: take the top stretchy part of the sock and pull it through
the loops of both sides of the scrunchie

step 8: to fasten it, insert one of the loops into the other and pull tight

step 9: secure the loop in the hole below it and pull
You're all done! :)

Hope you all enjoy :) leave a comment tellin' me whatcha think and don't forget to subscribe!

My name is Brooke and I'm currently live in North Carolina. I hope you enjoy! I uploaded another post about what to do with all those mismatched socks you have just laying around. So check that out as well!
